Breast Pump

Many new mothers decide to wait on the purchase of a breast pump because of the expense. If you are even thinking about breast-feeding your baby, I recommend you get one at least a month before you are due in case you have your baby early. If funds are very tight, get a manual one, but I recommend getting the famous Medela Pump In Style [photo right]. It does not matter whether you get the original, traveler style, or advanced; get the one you like; they all work wonderfully.

Here's the store with the best price I have found. You have to call for the latest price, but the savings are well worth it:

Why the rush? Your milk will come in about the time you leave the hospital or shortly after. If your breasts are engorged and your baby has not perfected his or her feeding technique, you are going to want that milk out and fast! You will be much more comfortable if you have a pump on hand. And the cost really is not as much as you think because Medela pumps can easily be resold when you are done (even though the manufacturer advises against getting used pumps, they are very much in demand on eBay and other websites). Even used, they still sell easily, offsetting your purchase price.
